MORGANITE
Morganite, the pale pastel pink to salmon pink colored variety of Beryl was first identified as a gemstone in its own right in Madagascar in 1910, and named after J.P. Morgan, the banker and gem collector. It is a rare gem, colored by manganese and cesium and mined in Brazil, Madagascar, Zimbabwe and the USA. It can be found in large crystals, usually clear but when included these inclusions are multi phase – a crystal and a gas bubble in a liquid cavity – or needle like, resembling rain.
Morganite’s color is one that warms the soul, reminding one of simple pleasures like lying in the park on a warm summer’s day – children’s laughter in the background – just gazing at the clouds as they meander across the sky.
